Après le bilan «alarmant » en 2025 : Le FDR annonce une offensive politique pour 2026
The Front for the Defense of Democracy and the Republic (FDR) has delivered an uncompromising assessment of the past year. Amid economic stagnation, institutional failings, and the erosion of freedoms, the opposition is sounding the alarm and announcing a major political offensive for 2026.
According to the FDR, this Thursday, in a press conference held at the Socialist Party House (PS), the PASTEF regime, in power for almost two years, has failed to turn things around.
She denounces a lack of clear vision, illustrated by what she calls the "hidden debt fable" and the government's inability to honor its basic obligations, such as the payment of student grants or the settlement of invoices to construction companies.
The front highlights an alarming deterioration of the social situation. "Food sovereignty is threatened, with cereal imports having exploded to exceed 2.3 million tons in September 2025, compared to 2 million in 2023," the FDR warns.
The price paradox is also highlighted. "While the price of a barrel of oil has fallen globally, Senegalese people pay 100 CFA francs more for a super gasoline than in Ivory Coast. The peanut season is suffering, with the state accused of being unable to pay its debts to private operators, forcing farmers to sell their harvests at rock-bottom prices," adds the FDR, which also criticizes the suspension of family security grants and the introduction of new taxes on mobile money, which increase the pressure on the most vulnerable.
Beyond the figures, it is the democratic health of the country that worries opposition leaders. The FDR paints a "distressing" picture of tensions between the Presidency and the Prime Minister's office, fueled by the 2029 succession. This institutional instability is accompanied, according to the front, by the manipulation of the Public Prosecutor's Office to silence critical voices and keep individuals under judicial supervision despite release orders.
Faced with what it calls a "diabolical machine and malevolent governance," the FDR refuses to give in and has outlined a very busy field agenda for the coming year. Tours are planned in the Thiès region in December, followed by the Diourbel region after Ramadan.
In preparation for the municipal and departmental elections of October 2026, the front will launch a large-scale voter registration campaign in February. Furthermore, seminars on transparency and consultations with unions and employers are planned in order, it states, to "get the country out of the danger zone."
The FDR concludes its manifesto by demanding the immediate release of political prisoners and hoping that 2026 will be the year of a "new day" marked by peace, national unity and justice.
