Visant un million de signatures : Le mouvement Sonko Dégage lance une pétition pour exiger la démission du Premier ministre

The Movement of Senegalese Democrats (MSD), also known as Sonko Dégage, has officially launched a national petition aimed at collecting one million signatures to demand the resignation of Senegal's Prime Minister.

In a press release, the MSD announced the launch of a signature collection campaign, both physical and digital, to demand the resignation of the head of government. The MSD steering committee issued a harsh indictment of the Prime Minister's management, accusing him, "on the political and institutional level, of establishing a party-state by confiscating institutions for the benefit of his political camp; of muzzling all dissenting voices; of installing authoritarian governance; of using the justice system as a weapon for political settlement."

Not stopping there, the initiators of the petition emphasize that on the economic front, the PM has "caused the collapse of the national economy, driven away investors and halted public works, causing thousands of job losses. They also point to his irresponsible statements on alleged 'hidden debts' which have undermined Senegal's international credibility with partners like the IMF."

On the social level, of having "excluded entire families from family security grants for political reasons; dismissed workers because of their political affiliation; created tensions with the unions, with the threat of a blank year in the education system;

"create a climate of fear and division," reads the document sent to Seneweb.

Ardo Gningue and his comrades call on every Senegalese citizen, both at home and abroad, to sign this online petition. The organization presents this initiative as an act of defense of the Republic, democracy, the rule of law, and individual freedoms.

“Senegal deserves better”

In its statement, the movement states that "Senegal, a land of democracy, dialogue and justice, cannot be led by a man who makes hatred and political revenge his government program."

The MSD promises to continue its mobilization until, in its words, the Senegalese people regain "their dignity, their voice and their future."
