Assemblée : Maïmouna Bousso traite Moussa Bocar Thiam de "fuyard"
The response was swift. Following statements by MP Barane Fofana, a member of the Takku Wallu parliamentary group, Maïmouna Bousso launched a fierce counterattack, accusing former minister Moussa Bocar Thiam of fleeing from his responsibilities. The two parliamentarians spoke during a plenary session of the National Assembly during the examination of the draft resolution impeaching the former minister. "Moussa Bocar has confessed. It's not for nothing that he fled," she asserted. According to her, anyone who claims to be "as pure as the driven snow" must answer to the justice system of their country instead of going into exile. "If you claim to be innocent, you appear before the courts. You don't leave the country," she insisted, adding that the former minister was "not the only one to have fled."
Maïmouna Bousso stands by the firm stance of the legal process. "Thieves are being prosecuted. They are free to prove their innocence," she emphasized, reminding everyone that the justice system offers them the opportunity to defend themselves. She also stressed the moral imperative attached to the ministerial office: "When you are honored with the appointment of a minister, you must be fair in your actions."
Responding directly to Barane Fofana, who raised concerns about the alleged stigmatization of Matam, presented as a stronghold of former President Macky Sall, Maïmouna Bousso denounced an attempt to ethnicize the case. "You no longer belong to Matam. You are no more Halpulaar than we are. Senegal is one and indivisible," she declared, calling for an end to any communal or regionalist interpretation of the ongoing legal proceedings. For her, "the victimhood narrative must end," asserting that justice must take its course without political pressure or identity-based manipulation.
