Assemblée nationale : l'avertissement musclé de Abdou Mbow à Tafsir Thioye
“Don’t provoke us.” With these words, MP Takky-Wallu Abdou Mbow concluded his attack on Independent MP Tafsir Thioye. Reacting to the decision by the only opposition parliamentary group in the National Assembly not to challenge the recently adopted law amending the Electoral Code, Thioye argued that the arguments put forward were untenable.
"As for my colleague Tafsir Thioye, he never wanted to join us when we made appeals to the Constitutional Council on highly national and democratic issues, and we always accepted his choice," recalls Abdou Mbow in an interview published this Thursday in Les Échos.
The APR official believes that Thioye is hardly in a position to "lecture them in any way." "Furthermore," Abdou Mbow continues, "we have repeatedly called for a boycott of the Question Time sessions with the government, but some, including him, and other members of parliament have always refused to join us. Yet, we didn't dwell on it because of their independence and their political stance."
Parliamentarian Takku-Wallu concluded cryptically: "We know who's who in the Assembly, who does what. Don't provoke us. We are not opportunistic opponents. We, at least, and all Senegalese can attest to this, are in the opposition at all times and at all times."
