Congrès du PASTEF : Maimouna Dieye place les femmes au cœur du projet de transformation
At the first congress of PASTEF-Les Patriotes, Maimouna Dieye defended a vision of systemic transformation based on sovereignty, good governance, and citizen participation. But beyond general principles, the political leader particularly emphasized a lever she considers essential: the involvement of women in the process of national renewal.
Speaking to the delegates, she reminded them that the difficulties facing Senegal are not only circumstantial, but result from an economic, political, administrative and cultural system that has shown its limitations over the decades.
According to her, systemic transformation implies a break with practices that have fostered inequality, economic dependence, weak institutions and a loss of trust between citizens and the state.
In this context, Maimouna Dieye believes that PASTEF must remain true to its founding project by working towards full national sovereignty, encompassing economic, intellectual, and cultural aspects. "Systemic transformation cannot be achieved with imported solutions. It must stem from the realities and aspirations of the Senegalese people," she asserted.
The official also advocated for exemplary governance and ongoing citizen engagement, involving young people, workers, entrepreneurs, intellectuals, and the diaspora in building the national project. However, the central point of her address focused on the role of women in this transformative endeavor. "No systemic transformation can succeed without the full participation of women," she stated emphatically.
For Maimouna Dieye, women are a vital force in the economy, education, social life, and civic engagement. Despite their crucial contribution to the country's development, they continue to face numerous obstacles that limit their full participation in decision-making processes. This is why she advocated for gender equality to be considered a strategic pillar of the transformation project led by PASTEF.
According to her, this requires, in particular, the effective participation of women in decision-making bodies, better access to financing, training, economic opportunities, and public and private responsibilities. "Women should not be seen as mere beneficiaries of change, but as central actors in the national rebuilding process," she declared. In her view, their expertise, commitment, and ability to mobilize are major assets for building a new, more inclusive and sustainable development model.
