Conseil des ministres : Mise à jour du patrimoine historique national prévue d’ici fin 2026
This Wednesday, during a cabinet meeting, the Head of State instructed the government to update, before the end of 2026, the inventory of tangible and intangible assets belonging to the national historical heritage. "He requests a consensual update, before the end of 2026, of the inventory and classification of tangible and intangible assets belonging to the historical heritage. He also wishes to organize an international forum on Senegal's historical heritage, scheduled for December 2026," according to the press release issued by the cabinet.
The President of the Republic reiterates that "Senegal possesses an exceptional national heritage, both tangible and intangible." According to him, its promotion contributes to both the country's economic development and its international cultural influence.
Furthermore, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye emphasized the urgent need to develop a strategy to expand and preserve classified national sites, historical monuments, and assets, particularly those inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List. This requires the involvement of recognized experts to conduct the necessary research for the effective reintegration of national cultural assets into Senegal's historical heritage.
