Décision du Conseil constitutionnel : A Touba, Ousmane Sonko change de discours
Following the Constitutional Council's decision to invalidate the bill passed by the National Assembly that strengthened the president's powers at the expense of the president, Ousmane Sonko acquiesced. "This decision is binding on everyone! (...) In a democracy, when institutions play their role, each within its sphere of action, no crisis can arise," declared the president of the National Assembly.
But in Touba, during the inauguration of Pastef's headquarters, the political leader changed his tune. This time, Ousmane Sonko contested the decision rendered by the seven judges. "The Constitutional Council cannot say that members of parliament must vote for laws that please the President of the Republic. What is happening in this country is serious ," he said.
The Pastef leader also denounced the systematic appeals of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. "Every week, he goes to the Constitutional Council," he declared.
