Mort de l’étudiant Abdoulaye Ba : l’APR accuse Pastef et exige la démission du ministre de l’Intérieur
The National Executive Secretariat (SEN) of the Alliance for the Republic (APR) accuses the ruling power of having crossed "a red line in its murderous saga".
“Less than two years after taking office, the regime has made the permanent use of violence its main defining characteristic. It was on February 9th that, following its decision to crush, break and repress the democratic uprising of students seeking better study and living conditions, it ended up killing Abdoulaye Ba,” denounced the SEN of the APR.
After paying tribute "to the memory of the student torn from the affection of his parents and loved ones", the members of the APR believe that "the Pastef party is solely responsible for this unacceptable tragedy".
“His incompetence and brutal violence have led to an avoidable tragedy that, unfortunately, could happen again,” they warned in the statement received. They described his regime as “anti-popular and destructive to the nation.”
Given the gravity of the situation, the Alliance for the Republic is calling for a broad national mobilization. "The APR's National Executive Committee calls on all the vital forces of the Nation, all political organizations, all unions and all citizen movements in struggle, to demand the immediate resignation of the Minister of the Interior," the statement reads.
The party also demands "the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of law enforcement from university premises." "Today, the salvation of the Senegalese people depends on the mobilization of each and every one of them to defeat the terrible power that currently governs Senegal, to its great misfortune," emphasize the members of the APR's National Executive Committee.
