The Minister of Employment and Vocational and Technical Training, Amadou Moustapha Dieck Sarré, presided over a regional consultation in Diourbel on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

This meeting, organised within the framework of a special regional development committee (CRD), marks a decisive step in the process of developing the National Employment Policy.

In his address, the minister recalled that this initiative is part of the implementation of the National Development Strategy 2025-2029, which is based on the National Transformation Agenda Senegal 2050. The government has placed employment and employability among its major priorities.

Minister Sarré specified that President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye instructed his department to develop the National Employment Policy document in line with the Senegal 2050 Vision.

The consultation in Diourbel took place under the supervision of the governor, in the presence of the prefects, sub-prefects, the president of the Diourbel departmental council, the mayor of Diourbel, and the region's elected officials. Heads of regional and departmental services, young people, and numerous other guests also participated in this important meeting.

The minister stressed that the objective of this approach is to "promote a participatory and concerted approach in order to produce a strategic document that reflects the aspirations of the people, local realities and the specific priorities of each territory".

Amadou Moustapha Dieck Sarré called for the active engagement of all stakeholders: local authorities, public employment and entrepreneurship services, decentralized regional services, young people and women.

Under the governor's authority, this consultation must result in a structured regional diagnostic report, enriched with concrete recommendations. This document will inform the future national employment policy.

"Developing an ambitious, inclusive, and sustainable employment policy cannot be done without you," the minister stated. He emphasized the need for collective action, in a spirit of dialogue, shared responsibility, and forward planning.

This consultation in Diourbel is part of a series of regional meetings organized across the country. The government's objective is to gather input from all regions of Senegal before finalizing the National Employment Policy.
