Senegal participated in the first African Children's Parliament Forum, which was held in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, on November 21 and 22, 2025. The Senegalese delegation was led by Ms. Maïmouna Dièye, Minister of Family, Social Action and Solidarity.

The Senegalese delegation was composed of Senegalese children's parliamentarians, demonstrating the importance the Government attaches to the participation of children in the development and implementation of public policies.

In her address, Minister Maïmouna Dièye conveyed greetings from President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye and reaffirmed Senegal's commitment to strengthening the protection and promotion of children's rights. She highlighted several national initiatives: the relaunch of the National Children's Parliament, the implementation of the National Online Child Protection Plan, and the strengthening of support systems, including the rehabilitation of the GINDDI Center, in cooperation with Morocco and Spain.

The Forum was held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the effective chairmanship of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem. It brought together 170 participants from 28 African countries.

The discussions focused on key issues for children: education, mental health, combating early marriages, protecting street children, preventing child labor, and digital security.

The work culminated in the adoption of the Rabat Declaration on Children's Participation in Africa's Development. This ambitious text commits African countries to promoting children's participation, strengthening legal frameworks, and intensifying continental cooperation.

Through its participation, Senegal reaffirms its determination to actively contribute to building a protective, just and inclusive Africa, where every child benefits from protection, dignity and opportunities.
