"Du tapalé pour gagner du temps…" : Les mots crus de Sonko sur le référendum annoncé par le Pr. Diomaye
The proposed constitutional amendment was adopted by the National Assembly last week. Addressing the members of parliament, the Minister of Justice announced that the Head of State had decided to submit the draft text to a referendum. However, Ousmane Sonko, the Speaker of the National Assembly, is skeptical.
"The referendum, if of course it will take place. Because we all know that ay tapalé la rek (it's a bluff) to gain time. But we all know that they do not intend to organize a referendum," said Ousmane Sonko on the sidelines of the ceremony for the sale of his party's cards this Saturday.
He even took a little jab at the opposition in this regard: "Those who oppose and only oppose Pastef and Ousmane Sonko should go and ask the President the date on which this referendum will be organized, because the Senegalese people need to know. And the Senegalese people agree with this constitution," added the president of Pastef.
Ousmane Sonko remains confident. For him, his party will win all the upcoming electoral contests: "Whether it is the referendum, the local elections, the legislative elections if they are organized, or the presidential election of 2029, no election can be organized in Senegal without it being sanctioned by a victory of Pastef and its allies," asserted the leader of Pastef.
