Électrification : Thierno Alassane Sall constate l’échec du projet AEE Power à Birkilane
Member of Parliament Thierno Alassane Sall strongly denounced what he called a serious financial scandal involving 37 billion CFA francs, implicating the Senegalese Rural Electrification Agency (ASER) and the Spanish company AEE Power EPC. As part of this investigation, he conducted a field tour in the Kaffrine region, specifically in the villages of Yalale Diacké, Sombe Diacké, and Beussal Wolof in the Birkilane department, to assess the actual status of the announced rural electrification projects.
Accompanied by MP Adama Diallo and columnist Abdou Nguer, Thierno Alassane Sall stated that several localities in the Birkilane department still lack access to electricity, despite significant funding. According to him, the 37 billion CFA francs disbursed by Santander Bank have had no visible impact on the ground. "These are public funds. It is unacceptable that populations are deprived of such a fundamental right as access to electricity," he declared.
The parliamentarian also expressed regret at the absence of his colleagues from the parliamentary majority, whom he had invited to participate in the tour. This absence, he argued, reflected a lack of interest in transparency and accountability in the management of public finances. He further accused the authorities of attempting to downplay, or even suppress, this affair in the eyes of the public.

Thierno Alassane Sall questioned the Director General of ASER, Jean Michel Sène, about the use of funds intended for rural electrification. He demanded clear explanations and called on the State to determine responsibility and punish those responsible for what he considers a serious misappropriation of public resources.
As a reminder, the localities targeted by this electrification program are located in the regions of Kaffrine, Kédougou, Louga, Saint-Louis, and Tambacounda. The project was intended to electrify 1,740 villages, an objective that, according to Thierno Alassane Sall, is far from being achieved. Determined, he vowed to continue his denunciations until the truth is revealed in this matter. "This is the scandal of scandals," he insisted.
