The city of Dakar officially has a new mayor. Following a vote held by the City Council on Monday, August 25, 2025, Abass Fall was elected mayor of the Senegalese capital, succeeding the interim mayor who had been in office for several months.
In a message to his fellow citizens on Tuesday, August 26, the new mayor of Dakar pledged to work within the framework of the territorialization of public policies included in the Senegal 2050 National Transformation Agenda. "I renew my commitment to serve only the people of Dakar, and to contribute fully to the transformation of our capital," he affirmed.
Furthermore, the Minister of Labor, Employment, and Institutional Relations expressed his gratitude to the city councilors for their trust. "This election marks a new era for the city of Dakar, which needs a strong, dedicated team, focused exclusively on meeting the concerns of Dakar residents," he wrote.

The nail on the political coffin of Barthelemy Dias.
