Fatick : Le médiateur de la République promet de porter les doléances des populations aux plus hautes autorités
During a visit to Fatick, the Ombudsman of the Republic, Demba Kandji, assured that he would relay to the authorities all the concerns expressed by the residents, ranging from improving the living environment to access to fundamental rights.
"I met with various representatives of the population. Their grievances range from a better living environment to easier access to their rights. I am committed to passing them on to the appropriate authorities," Mr. Kandji said during a meeting to share the 2023-2024 annual report of the Ombudsman of the Republic with local populations.
At the same time, he recalled that this approach aims to "explain and popularize the content of the report submitted to the President of the Republic", a document which notably sets out the balance sheet of complaints received and their processing rate.
The report highlights several recurring issues in the Fatick region, such as land disputes and wage demands.
Beyond the disputes, the population expressed several priority grievances: the degraded state of the roads, the difficulty of access to care for the mentally ill, the lack of resources suffered by the municipality to respond effectively to the needs of the inhabitants.
So many problems that the mediation is now committed to bringing to the attention of the "right person" in order to obtain concrete answers.
