DR Congo squad for AFCON 2025: Wissa omitted, Mbemba included

The coach of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) national team, Sébastien Desabre, has announced a 26-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco 2025. For this edition, the coach, who finished fourth in Ivory Coast, has selected a fairly similar group. The only notable absence is that of Yoane Wissa, who has yet to play a single minute for his club this season due to a knee injury.

Hero of the penalty shootout against Nigeria in the World Cup playoffs, Timothy Fayulu is one of three goalkeepers selected, along with Lionel Mpasi (Le Havre) and Matthieu Epolo (Standard de Liège).

Called up for the first time in November, like Epolo, Mario Stroykens (Anderlecht) and Michel-Ange Balikwhisa (Celtic) will also be at this AFCON. Key players Chancel Mbemba (Lille), Samuel Moutoussamy (Atromitos), and Cédric Bakambu (Real Betis) will be in Morocco, as will Fiston Mayele (Pyramids FC), who was named African Interclub Player of the Year at the 2025 CAF Awards.
