Guy Marius Sagna sur Macky Sall : « S’ils le veulent à la tête de l’ONU… »
The MP from the parliamentary majority, Guy Marius Sagna, took to the airwaves the day after the official announcement of the candidacy of former President Macky Sall for the post of Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN).
In a post on his social media, the Pastef MP did not mince words. According to him, the only merit of the former head of state was "his docility" in the face of imperialism.
"His only 'merit' is his docility to imperialism. He has taken docility to the point of assassinating nearly 100 Senegalese, imprisoning more than 2000 political prisoners in Senegal. If they want him at the head of the UN, it is again for his docility and not for the rights of nations," he notably wrote.
Macky Sall's candidacy, supported by the African Union, is sparking heated debates on the national political scene.
Mr. Sagna thus confirms the outright opposition of a fringe of the presidential movement to any prospect of seeing the former president accede to the head of the UN, an institution supposed to embody, according to its founding texts, the defense of human rights and the sovereignty of peoples.
