Polémiques internes : Ousmane Sonko charge les « nouveaux venus » de la coalition
Faced with criticism, Ousmane Sonko maintains that he is not opposed to the principle of coalitions. “PASTEF is not refusing to work or to form coalitions. What we refuse is for someone to try to lead PASTEF when PASTEF already holds all the power,” he stated firmly. According to the party leader, some actions are not aimed at strengthening unity, but rather at creating internal divisions. “You join a coalition and you want to divide, to play games to separate and better rule. That is what we refuse. We will not accept it,” he insisted.
For PASTEF, alliances must absolutely respect the political weight and legitimacy acquired at the ballot box, particularly in the 2024 elections. The party also points out that it is no stranger to mergers and long-standing political collaborations. "PASTEF was formed through mergers since 2015. We have always collaborated," the Prime Minister emphasized, to dispel any ambiguity about his party's openness.
Political figures like Cheikh Tidiane Dièye and Aïda Mbodj were cited as examples of partnerships deemed constructive. The party also highlighted the fact that it had granted parliamentary and ministerial positions to its allies as part of these collaborations. PASTEF therefore strongly rejects the image of a party that is inward-looking or hegemonic. "We must not be portrayed as people who don't want to form coalitions," the political leader insisted.
Finally, Ousmane Sonko pointed the finger at certain newcomers to the political scene during the 2024 elections, claiming that "95% of the noise comes from them." According to him, the current tensions and media controversies are more related to the agitation of these newcomers than to any real historical or internal disagreements within the presidential movement.
