Justice et amnésie : La mise au point musclée de Yassine Fall face aux députés
During the examination of the draft law reforming the National Observatory of Places of Deprivation of Liberty, the Minister of Justice, Yassine Fall, did not mince words. Questioned about the violence that had claimed the lives of several citizens, she made a passionate appeal for truth, justice, and collective responsibility.
“In this country, people have amnesia. We never wanted young people to be killed under our leadership,” she insisted, responding to harsh criticism of the current authorities’ handling of the crises. The Minister of Justice emphasized the need to allow justice to take its course calmly, assuring that the full truth would be uncovered regarding the recent tragedies: “Justice will be served as quickly as possible, according to the needs of the ongoing investigation.”
The minister also emphasized that the families' grief is not new and that many cases remain unresolved. "Men and women have been killed in this country, and even today, their families are demanding justice. In our government, the law will be upheld and responsibilities will be established," she firmly promised.
Deploring what she considers unjust accusations, Yassine Fall urged the political class to stop exploiting human tragedies. According to her, politics must be based on truth: "We must not politicize the death of a young man who was the hope of his family and the future of the country."
Finally, while reaffirming the authorities' unwavering commitment to freedom of expression, the minister reminded them that it must be exercised within the framework of the law. "We fought for freedom of expression, but we must also take the laws into account. We must learn to tell the truth," she concluded before the members of parliament.
