Keur Massar: Le FDR dénonce « une gouvernance en faillite" et appelle à une mobilisation nationale
The Front for Democracy and the Defence of the Republic (FDR) of the department of Keur Massar held a press conference this Wednesday, October 29, under the chairmanship of Babacar Diassé, president of the communication commission of the movement.
In a strongly worded statement, the FDR painted a bleak picture of the national situation, citing "a profound deterioration of the economic, social, and political situation" in the country. According to its leaders, the current government demonstrates a "total lack of vision and ambition," with a high cost of living, high unemployment, and restricted freedoms.
The FDR of Keur Massar also denounced the cancellation "under pressure from its local general assembly, believing that fear has changed sides".
The movement denounced "anti-democratic and anti-republican" practices, accusing the regime of wanting to silence the opposition.
Calling for citizen mobilization, the FDR invites Senegalese people to participate in the national march scheduled for this Friday, October 31st at 3pm.
"We are making a solemn appeal to all Senegalese men and women, to all activists, leaders and supporters of political parties to mobilize massively for the great national march of the FDR, scheduled for this Friday, October 31, 2025, starting at 3 p.m. at the Jet d'eau-Dieupeul starting point."
According to the FDR, this national mobilization will be a citizen response to the excesses of the regime and an affirmation of the collective rejection of injustice and fear.
"We will not give in to provocation or intimidation. We continue our fight for a democratic and prosperous Senegal, faithful to its republican values and the spirit of resistance of its people."
Finally, the movement expressed its solidarity with the press, particularly journalists Babacar Fall (RFM) and Maimouna Ndour Faye (7TV) who were arrested yesterday after interviewing Madiambal Diagne, currently under investigation.

Il est essentiel, dans une démocratie, d’avoir une opposition forte et présente. Cependant, celle-ci devrait être avant tout une force de proposition, capable d’apporter des solutions constructives plutôt que de s’opposer pour le simple principe de s’opposer.
Chaque Sénégalais et chaque Sénégalaise est appelé(e) à contribuer positivement au débat national. Notre pays a besoin de l’engagement de tous pour avancer et atteindre enfin le développement que nous appelons de nos vœux. Crédibilité zéro
Est-ce réellement une bonne option ? Quels en seraient les impacts pour le pays ? Et surtout, quelles propositions alternatives l’opposition peut-elle formuler ?
C’est ce type de débat constructif que nous attendons, car c’est ainsi que notre nation pourra progresser. Les discussions purement politiciennes, en revanche, ne font que nous épuiser.
