Affaire Lassana Kanté : La coordination de Taxawu Sénégal à Koumpentoum monte au créneau
The detention of Lassana Kanté, regional coordinator of Taxawu Sénégal in Tambacounda, has sparked outrage among his supporters. At a press conference, the Koumpentoum departmental coordination strongly condemned the arrest, deeming it "arbitrary and unjust," which it attributes to the persistence of a repressive system.
Moustapha Dieng, the movement's departmental coordinator in Koumpentoum, expressed his bitterness at what he considers the criminalization of critical speech under the new regime. "In a mature democracy, the state does not protect the powerful from words, but it protects citizens from abuses," he declared, while firmly denying that Lassana Kanté had made any inappropriate remarks against Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.
Demanding the immediate release of their leader at his trial scheduled for January 28th before the Tambacounda Criminal Court, the members of the coordinating committee also expressed their gratitude for President Khalifa Sall's unwavering support for the defendant. As a reminder, Lassana Kanté is being prosecuted for insulting a public official and making offensive remarks following posts on social media.
