Football : un club de Ligue 1 en crise, démissions du président et du secrétaire général
ASC Cambérène, recently promoted to Ligue 1, is going through a period of turbulence. Following the departure of several key players and coach Birahim Ba, it is now the turn of president Cheikh Sow and general secretary Moussa Mbengue to resign. Cheikh Sow, feeling isolated in the club's management, formalized his departure during a meeting of the board of directors, reports the specialist newspaper Record in its Wednesday edition.
However, the same source confided, these resignations were not accepted by the Committee, which deemed them premature with the new season approaching. Since then, religious figures and club elders, including Serigne Cheikh Mbacké, Abdoulaye Thiaw Mbaye, and Sibory Diop, have been trying to convince Cheikh Sow to reverse his decision. For now, the latter is sticking to his guns.
If his departure were to be confirmed, the sports daily believes, the interim could be taken over by the first vice-president, Gora Niang, known as "Mbaxal." But supporters remain hopeful: Cheikh Sow, the architect of the club's three successive promotions in less than two years, remains a central figure in Cambérène's sporting project.
