« Les données du pays sont dans la rue ! » : Oumar Sarr agite le spectre d’un scandale d’État
The mayor of Dagana, Oumar Sarr, is raising the alarm about an alleged leak of administrative data which he believes could threaten national security and the transparency of the electoral process.
A former minister and computer engineer, he provided some clarification. According to him, individuals had accessed files belonging to the Directorate for the Autonomy of Files (DAF), which he described as being linked to the Ministry of Public Security. "Individuals took files from the DAF. No one knows exactly which files they are," he stated, raising the possibility that these documents might contain sensitive data.
Oumar Sarr believes the seriousness of the situation lies in the uncertainty surrounding the nature of the compromised information. "It's possible it's security data. No one knows if it's the electoral register," he insisted, leaving the true extent of the leak in doubt.
Faced with what he considers a serious threat, Oumar Sarr is directly appealing to the government, which he accuses of lacking foresight in cybersecurity. He points out that the General Directorate of Taxes and State Property (DGID) has already been the victim of an attack or data breach, a precedent which, according to him, should have prompted the authorities to strengthen the protection of state information systems. "A country whose data is exposed is not safe," he insisted, while stating that he is awaiting an official statement from the Ministry of the Interior to inform the public about the exact nature of the data involved and the measures taken to contain the situation.
Beyond security concerns, Oumar Sarr also raises the political and electoral implications of such a case. He notably links it to the existence of biometric cards within the ruling party, Pastef.
The mayor of Dangana suspects the possibility of fraudulent maneuvers, specifically mentioning the possibility of individuals without proper identification being allowed to participate in certain registration processes. "Anything is possible," he stated. He assured that the opposition will closely monitor developments in the case and remain vigilant against any attempt to undermine the democratic process.
