Limogeage de Sonko : le Président du FEDARCC exhorte à privilégier le dialogue et la paix
The dismissal of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko by President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye marks a decisive step in Senegalese political life. Far from being a sudden break, this decision is analyzed by Chérif Cheikh Boun Chamsidine Aïdara, President of the Federation of Religious Associations and Communities in Casamance (FEDARCC), as an act of responsibility and resilience, urging Senegalese citizens to prioritize peace and national dialogue.
For Chérif Aïdara, the separation of Diomaye and Sonko within the government should not be seen as a rift. He emphasizes that "peace in Senegal, the future of Senegal, is more important than the ambitions of any individual," stressing that the two leaders remain brothers and Senegalese citizens. Politics, he says, unites people today, separates them tomorrow, but can always bring them together again.
The religious leader highlighted Ousmane Sonko's attitude, noting that he accepted his dismissal with serenity and gratitude to Allah, thus demonstrating an example of magnanimity and resilience. "A partnership is meant to succeed. There is never a partnership meant to undermine each other," he insisted, seeing in this stance a model of responsibility. Sonko, now in the opposition, is urged to fully embrace his role by proposing constructive alternatives.
The responsibility for the five-year term now rests entirely on Bassirou Diomaye Faye. Chérif Aïdara calls on the Senegalese people to support the President in his initiatives, particularly in addressing the challenges of employment, youth, health, and education. Diomaye's success will also be Sonko's success, and vice versa, because the failure of one would be the failure of all.
The President of FEDARCC urged citizens to avoid verbal violence and to support the two leaders with prayers. "They are not enemies, they are brothers," he emphasized, inviting Senegalese people to actively participate in the national dialogue. For him, building Senegal depends on unity, solidarity, and collective resilience.
Thus, the dismissal of Ousmane Sonko appears not as a rift, but as a step in consolidating peace and dialogue. Chérif Cheikh Boun Chamsidine Aïdara's analysis highlights a more peaceful vision: that of a country that must move forward in unity, where the success of one is inseparable from that of the other.
