In an official statement released on April 27, 2026, the General Secretariat of PASTEF – Les Patriotes firmly reminded its grassroots structures of the rules. The party emphasized that the nomination of candidates for the upcoming local elections is exclusively a centralized internal procedure, under penalty of sanctions.

With local elections approaching, the fever for nominations already seems to be gripping the ranks of the Patriots. Faced with the proliferation of local initiatives, the party's Secretary General, Mohamed Ayib Salim Daffé, deemed it necessary to refocus the troops by invoking the strict adherence to the party's fundamental principles.

The statement reiterates that the application process is not left to the discretion of party members, but is strictly governed by internal regulations. According to the official note, "Articles 31 of the Statutes and 19 of the Internal Regulations stipulate that the conditions and procedures for submitting candidacies for the various elections are set out in an Election Charter," a document presented as an integral part of the party's official documents.

This clarification aims to establish an iron discipline within the movement, specifying that the "National Investiture Commission (CNI) is the only authority empowered to prepare the investitures", and this in strict compliance with the provisions of said Charter.

The message is particularly explicit to the territorial structures that may have already begun putting forward names. The General Secretariat is therefore asking "the municipal sections and departmental coordinating bodies to refrain from taking any initiative to nominate candidates."

This ban remains in effect until the official validation of the Electoral Charter and the formal installation of the National Nominating Commission. To dispel any ambiguity regarding the leadership's determination, the statement concludes with a stark warning: "Any violation of these provisions will be punished."

Ousmane Sonko ne veut pas que les proches de Diomaye soient candidats lors des locales pour que lui et ses partisans raffolent tout. Diomaye et ses parti dans le PASTEF n'ont pas quitté et ne quitterons jamais car le parti cest Diomaye qui l'a constr. Désolé, nous serons candidats dans toutes les communes du Sénégal. Si nous perdons ici, nous gagnerons là mais nous n'allons pas vous laisser nous faire le coup des législatives.
