Lutte contre la fraude et la corruption : Serigne Bassirou Guèye out, la loi sur l’Ofnac votée !
The law on the National Office for the Fight against Fraud and Corruption (OFNAC) was adopted by the National Assembly on Monday, August 25. With this vote, the former public prosecutor, Serigne Bassirou Guèye, loses his position as president, with the dissolution of the Office, another body with the same acronym (OFNAC).
This new structure brings innovations, namely the exclusion of audit and anti-fraud missions from the attributions of the OFNAC, the systematization of the call for applications procedure for the appointment of all members of the OFNAC, the free publication of reports from control, verification and inspection bodies and institutions, the revision of the conditions of subjection to the declaration of assets and the limitation to three (3) years of the duration of the mandate of half of the first members appointed in order to ensure the good continuity of the service by preserving the memory of the OFNAC under the transitional provisions.
According to the Minister of Justice, Ousmane Diagne, the establishment of the new OFNAC will translate into action the new policy of accountability and the fight against corruption.
