Mass Thiam prend les commandes de la plateforme “Mutations” et appelle à une rupture par la compétence
The Mutations Platform was officially launched this Saturday at its inaugural General Assembly, marking a new stage in citizen mobilization in Senegal. Composed of experts from various sectors of economic and social life, this new structure aims to become a framework for action and reflection in service of national development, relying on collective intelligence and concrete commitment.
In a socio-economic context marked by numerous challenges, the initiators of Mutations aim to break with traditional approaches and prioritize a dynamic based on cooperation, innovation, and shared responsibility. Their stated objective is clear: to transform ideas into tangible actions for the benefit of the common good.
“It is with emotion, humility, and a profound sense of responsibility that we experience this pivotal moment,” declared Ms. Latifa Diack, a member of the organizing committee. She emphasized that the platform was born from the desire of citizens from diverse backgrounds who chose to transcend their differences and unite around a common ideal: to set minds in motion to collectively reimagine the future.
The founding members emphasized the need to build upon strong values, particularly justice, dignity, and efficiency. For them, active citizenship cannot be limited to intentions but must translate into concrete results. "The best ideas are only valuable when they produce concrete results," one speaker reminded the audience, calling for genuine "sovereignty of competence."
A highlight of this meeting was the election of Mr. Mass Thiam as president of the Mutations platform. In his first speech, the new president acknowledged the magnitude of the mission entrusted to him and called for collective mobilization.
“We have just laid the foundation for our Mutations platform. Together, we will go further. We need a collective momentum to meet the challenges,” he declared, emphasizing the need to strengthen skills to better address the challenges of tomorrow’s world. He also affirmed his commitment to a vision where the private sector plays a leading role in development. Mass Thiam advocated for a paradigm shift: “I no longer want to live in a country where incompetence is a virtue and immaturity a skill,” he asserted, calling for a culture of excellence and responsibility.
The ceremony was also an opportunity for the new president to pay tribute to several figures, including former president Me Abdoulaye Wade and economist Moustapha Kassé, whom he hailed as sources of inspiration for his commitment.
