During a day dedicated to women in the Mbour department, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr. Serigne Guèye Diop, made a strong appeal for unity and political mobilization in support of the Diomaye President coalition. Addressing political leaders, local elected officials, and numerous women, he emphasized the need to rally around the Head of State, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye.

The minister emphasized the central role of women in society, stressing that this meeting was first and foremost a celebration of their essential place in the family, the community, and political life. Beyond this tribute, the meeting was also intended as a moment for political remobilization.

“I have launched an appeal to the mayors of the Mbour department. Because today, it is important that all the mayors of the Mbour department also support the president. The time for unity is now, the time for division is over. The question is: does Senegal need to unite its people or divide them today? That is why we have launched an appeal to the 16 mayors of the Mbour department, to all associations, to young people, women, intellectuals, but also to elders and all communities, whether they are fishermen or farmers. We are launching this appeal so that everyone can support the coalition,” he maintained.

The minister also addressed current economic challenges, particularly oil and gas exploitation, as well as job creation for young people and women, calling for a united front to support these initiatives. He emphasized that Senegal is developing its resources and that it is imperative to ask the entire department, from Safi to Diéghem, to support the president, especially in the city of Mbour.

Present at the meeting, Aminata Touré, a key figure in the coalition, rallied the troops and reinforced the message of mobilization. For his part, Dr. Abdou Faye, the coalition's departmental facilitator, welcomed the strong turnout at the event. He described the meeting as a show of strength, stating that "the Mbour department has answered its son," referring to the Head of State.

Looking ahead to the upcoming elections, he called on local leaders to act responsibly in order to secure a victory in the 16 municipalities of the department, stressing the need for close coordination between the different political forces.
