The meeting between Ousmane Sonko and senior officials of his party sparked considerable reaction this Friday. Yassine Fall, a Pastef party leader and Minister of Justice, chose to respond with irony. "With President Ousmane Sonko, even a simple cup of tea with Pastef activists becomes a national affair. His popularity amplifies everything," she remarked.
Yassine Fall and several Pastef officials have stepped forward to downplay the situation because the meeting has generated a lot of discussion. Some are even drawing parallels with the arrest of Ndiaga Seck this Friday by the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC).
For example, on X, Madiambal Diagne stated that Ousmane Sonko had decided to resign from his position as Prime Minister and "is crying foul, alleging a conspiracy orchestrated by President Diomaye Faye with the arrest of Ndiaga Seck." Seck, arrested by police in a case involving alleged acts of unnatural acts, is described as being close to Sonko.
