Crise nationale : le Parti socialiste sonne l’alerte et appelle à “mettre fin à la récréation”
The Socialist Party (PS), through its spokesperson and national secretary for communication, Abdoulaye Vilane, issued a solemn appeal to the political class and institutions for an urgent return to stability and national priorities. In a statement, the historic party observed “a political, social, economic, and institutional drift” that it considers dangerous for the country.
The Socialist Party strongly condemns what it calls a disconnect between the urgent needs of daily life and the priorities of those in power. According to the party, the population is facing a widespread increase in the cost of living: soaring electricity and fuel prices, rising food costs, and a proliferation of new taxes announced in the 2026 budget law.
The Socialist Party also believes that the controversy surrounding the alleged “hidden debt” has weakened Senegal’s financial credibility and created a climate of doubt among international partners.
All of this, according to the statement, is taking place in a context of “paralyzing duality” between the Presidency and the Prime Minister’s office, fueling internal rivalries that “feed no one but impoverish the entire country”.
For the Socialist Party, "the urgent priority is 2025, not 2029: food, healthcare, housing, work, living."
