Dialogue national : Thierno Bocoum doute de la capacité du pouvoir à appliquer les conclusions
Thierno Bocoum, president of the AGIR-LES LEADERS movement, challenged Bassirou Diomaye Faye on the political limitations of the announced national consultations. In a formal address, he argued that the real issue lies not in the head of state's right to hold consultations, but in his ability to enforce any resulting conclusions.
According to him, several obstacles undermine the effectiveness of this approach. He first points to a parliamentary majority that he considers more preoccupied with internal political ambitions than with the priorities of the people. He then mentions a malaise at the highest levels of the Executive branch, marked by repeated public disagreements between the president and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, which he argues fuel the image of a government riddled with contradictions.
For Thierno Bocoum, governing is not limited to organizing consultations, but requires a clear ability to guide institutions, arbitrate disagreements, and ensure coherence in public action. He therefore calls for a clarification of the relationships between the presidency, the prime minister's office, and the parliamentary majority to prevent the conclusions reached through consultations from being neutralized or exploited for partisan gain.
The leader of AGIR-LES LEADERS also advocates for a more peaceful political climate, denouncing perceptions of intimidation targeting certain critical voices. He concludes by stating that Senegal now expects strong leadership, institutional coherence, and guarantees of stability centered on the Republic, the Constitution, and the nation's best interests.
