Nomination de Cheikh Niang : Dr Yoro Dia rend hommage à un « boy Thiaroye »
The praise for the new Minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad continues unabated and comes from all political sides. This time, it is Dr. Yoro Dia, political scientist and former Minister Spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic of Senegal during Macky Sall's time, who reacted via a post on X. He shared an excerpt from his reading note of Cheikh Niang's book published on February 20, 2025, entitled: "Reflections of an African Diplomat on the Challenges of the Continent - The Quest for the Summits."
For the politician, this initiative aims to "congratulate an illustrious 'boy Thiaroye' diplomat 'big caliber' appointed yesterday MAE and to tell young people that the suburbs must be a state of mind but not a ghetto." The passage from his reading note: "The career of diplomat Cheikh Niang, Permanent Representative of Senegal to the UN, Ambassador of Senegal to the United States, Ambassador to Japan, to South Africa, was also a "liberating odyssey" for many young Thiaroye residents of my generation, because seeing him at the time on the television news, in black and white, next to President Abdou Diouf, convinced us that if Grand Cheikh, from Thiaroye like us, had managed to rise to the top, despite the "initial constraints", we should follow his example instead of remaining frozen in front of the wailing wall, whining about not having "long arms".
