Offensive contre l'isolement : Le Chef de l'État et Déthié Fall lancent des chantiers historiques à Kolda
The Kolda region was abuzz this Friday, April 24, 2026, with inaugurations and the launch of strategic projects. Accompanied by the Minister of Infrastructure, Déthié Fall, the Head of State undertook a marathon field visit to Medina Yoro Foulah, marking a decisive turning point for this locality that had long remained isolated.
The "healthcare isolation" initiative is underway.
The day began at 10:00 AM with a highly symbolic act: the laying of the foundation stone for the Medina Yoro Foulah health center. Awaited by the local population for over a decade, this modern facility promises to put an end to the ordeal of difficult medical evacuations. For the Head of State, this project is a direct response to the urgent need for improved healthcare access in rural areas.
Fouladou Loop: Accelerated progress on the works
At 11:00 AM, the President visited the construction site of the Fouladou loop road, specifically the Dabo – Fafacourou – Médina Yoro Foulah section. Given the importance of this 62 km stretch, a vital economic artery for the region, the Head of State issued firm instructions. The Minister of Infrastructure and the Minister of Finance were ordered to take all necessary measures to ensure the project's completion as quickly as possible. The objective is clear: to definitively end Médina Yoro Foulah's isolation by road.
Electricity at the end of the backbone: The PUDC in action
The midday was marked by the inauguration of the Fafacourou – Dabo – Coumba Carra power line. This 53 km infrastructure brings light to all the villages it crosses, radically transforming the daily lives of households and local businesses.
Within the framework of this large-scale program led by the Community Development Emergency Program (PUDC), the figures demonstrate the progress of the work at the national level: 793 villages have already been put into service, 81 are awaiting imminent activation and 137 other sites are currently under construction.
With this series of inaugurations, the executive reaffirms its commitment to reducing territorial disparities and making social equity a tangible reality for the people of Fouladou.
