As part of the "Facing the Activists" initiative, a regular online meeting to engage directly with activists from different regions, Pastef leader Ousmane Sonko also reiterated the need to strengthen political training for party members in order to better share the party's vision and avoid what he considers overly emotional reactions. Sonko explained that the party plans to organize more training sessions, particularly online, to reach a larger number of activists across the country and in the diaspora.
“We will strengthen training to share the party’s vision. We will do this frequently, and online, because the virtual world makes things easier.” According to him, this training should help harmonize positions, better explain the party’s direction, and prepare activists for political responsibilities.
Sonko denounces overly emotional reactions
Taking advantage of this question, the Pastef leader deplored certain attitudes observed among activists, particularly on social media, where reactions are sometimes driven by emotion rather than political reflection. "We can see, through some scattered reactions, that many activists still have things to learn." Without citing specific cases, he asserted that these behaviors demonstrate the need for more structured training to avoid contradictory or poorly reasoned stances.
Strengthen party discipline and cohesion
For Ousmane Sonko, strengthening the party now requires improved internal organization, ongoing training, and adherence to party statutes, in order to maintain Pastef's cohesion within a political context marked by high expectations. He emphasized that the "Facing the World" initiative is precisely aligned with this approach, allowing the party to directly explain its direction to members and address any misunderstandings through regular dialogue with various regions.
