Hémicycle : Anta Babacar Ngom critique la gestion du pays et le manque d’actions concrètes
In the National Assembly on Tuesday, February 24, MP Anta Babacar Ngom gave a harsh assessment of the national situation, denouncing the slowness of government actions and shortcomings in several key sectors.
According to her, "for two years, the country has gone nowhere. The Senegalese are tired of waiting."
She cites alarming figures: 17% overbilling in public contracts, 40% of the budget mismanaged, 300 billion hidden in renegotiated contracts.
She laments the fact that the executive branch can "list the problems and not the solutions." "When will the foundation stones be laid and the inaugurations take place? When will the good news reach the hearts and minds of the Senegalese people?" she asks.
Lack of concrete action and social crises
For Anta Babacar Ngom, the government has limited itself to speeches and theoretical projects: "You sold us speeches, theorized projects, but when it comes to concrete action, nothing follows."
She also highlighted the strikes in all key sectors (health, education), reminding everyone that these are not privileges but constitutional rights. She cited the university crisis, which led to the death of student Abdoulaye Ba, as a symbol of the government's failures in the education sector, despite the promises made when she was in the opposition.
The parliamentarian also expressed her surprise at the government's inaction: "I am surprised not to see Ousmane Sonko return with the Senegalese supporters detained in Morocco. I wonder what Diomaye, whom we hardly ever see anymore, is doing in this regard."
Lack of democracy in the National Assembly
Anta Babacar Ngom also denounced the internal workings of the Assembly: "I am dismayed by the lack of democracy; many non-affiliated members are absent due to the allocation of speaking time. We went to see the Speaker of the Assembly to express our concerns; he made commitments but did nothing."
She concluded by affirming her desire to speak freely about the country's problems: "From now on, I will say what hurts me in front of everyone, in plenary session and with the Senegalese people as witnesses."
