Chaîne parlementaire : Le projet de loi adopté par les députés
Members of the National Assembly of Senegal adopted Bill No. 02-2026, establishing a parliamentary television channel, during a plenary session on Wednesday. Of the 165 registered members, 126 participated in the vote, including 15 by proxy. The bill passed with 121 votes in favor and 5 abstentions. There were no votes against.
This adoption marks an important step in the effort to strengthen the transparency of parliamentary activities and bring the institution closer to citizens. The future parliamentary channel should allow for better dissemination of legislative work, plenary debates, and committee activities.
The bill had sparked discussions in the chamber, with some parliamentarians raising legal and constitutional questions.
However, a majority of members of parliament ultimately approved the text, thus paving the way for the implementation of this institutional communication tool. The actual launch of the parliamentary channel will now depend on the practical details of its implementation, particularly in terms of organization, technology, and budget.
