Ousmane Faye, National Secretary for ICT of the Socialist Party (PS), member of the SEN and the Political Bureau, and president of the AS/Jëf movement, delivered a critical analysis of the current situation of his political party and launched a strong call for a refoundation of the PS.
According to him, the presidential election of March 24, 2024, followed by the early legislative elections of November 17, 2024, marked a historic turning point in Senegal's democratic life. These elections confirmed, he said, the popular desire for a "profound rupture in the practice of power."
For Ousmane Faye, this new situation has also highlighted the electoral marginalization of the Socialist Party, a consequence of twelve years of alliance with the APR and the BBY coalition. "We must collectively accept this weakening and the loss of a substantial part of our popular base," he warns, noting that the party risks lasting distrust if it does not reinvent itself.
He recalls that several internal seminars have allowed for a comprehensive diagnosis: the functioning of structures, the effectiveness of affiliated movements, past alliances, communication, and finances. But for him, the observation phase is now behind him. "There is no more time to waste. We must take action," he insists.
A constituent congress as a decisive step
Ousmane Faye proposes the immediate development of an action plan for grassroots political activity, which should culminate in a constituent congress. According to him, this should lead to concrete measures that can be implemented immediately after ratification by activists.
The socialist puts forward three priorities: regaining unity and recognising the causes of the marginalisation of the PS,
reconnect with the tradition of debate and imagination that has always characterized the Senegalese left,
build a new strategy for bringing the socialist family together.
Towards “another Socialist Party”
For Ousmane Faye, the survival of the Socialist Party depends on a courageous and assertive renewal. He calls for the birth of "another Socialist Party," led by a new generation and adapted to contemporary Senegalese society: a mass party, aggressive, rejuvenated, deeply democratic, and reformed in its operations.
He believes that the Socialist Party must once again become the "home of shattered hopes," attract young people in search of direction, restore confidence in rural areas and the working classes, and regain the esteem of intellectuals.
A call to activists
Finally, Ousmane Faye makes a solemn appeal to activists and the entire left-wing family: "The revival of the PS is not an option, but a sine qua non condition for bringing the left together again and finding the path to lost, disenchanted or excluded voters."
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment: "This ideal is the foundation of my commitment and the indestructible foundation of the new place that the Socialist Party must occupy in the Senegal of tomorrow."

PS DOYNA SEUK!
Sène make yi lougnouye doyè parti bi. Pourquoi diokhou gnouko jeunes yi bou yague
