PASTEF : Ousmane Sonko reconnaît un différend mais appelle à la mesure et au dialogue
During Martyrs' Day (commemorating the political events between 2021 and 2024), Ousmane Sonko delivered a speech largely focused on appeasement and internal cohesion. Acknowledging the existence of tensions and disagreements within the party, he stated unequivocally: "There is indeed a disagreement, but it must not divide us."
For the political leader, the recent demonstrations and misunderstandings stem primarily from a lack of consultation. He called on his supporters to fully restore dialogue: “We must come together, discuss the country, the party, and listen to everyone’s feelings. Those who share the same goal must consult with one another.”
Sonko revisited the meeting he held a month earlier with victims of past events. This meeting resulted in the decision to dedicate a Martyrs' Day, allowing each component of the movement to choose a representative to testify. According to him, this approach of truth and listening is essential to easing tensions: "We often forget that those who lead today were also victims."
While acknowledging the existence of frustrations, Sonko emphasized the need to avoid verbal outbursts and emotional interpretations: “One can be disappointed, but one must remain level-headed. Neither exaggerate in praise, nor distort reality when one disagrees.” He stressed that a disagreement is not a break, but a call for better communication and for strengthening the foundations of mutual trust.
In a further gesture of appeasement, Sonko recalled Bassirou Diomaye Faye's responsible stance during difficult times: "When we were facing hardship, his position was consistent and resolute. We must not forget that now." A message clearly aimed at strengthening cohesion between the two party figures and their supporters.
Sonko concluded by emphasizing the collective nature of their political commitment: “If I had taken a different path, you would have been the first to call me to order. We have accomplished a great deal, and we will continue to do so, but without giving the impression that nothing has been achieved.” For him, the future of the movement depends on each member's ability to overcome misunderstandings, acknowledge mistakes, and move forward together. A clear call for reconciliation, dialogue, and responsibility.

Laisser mouton pisser, tabaski viendra.
