Fonds politiques : Guy Marius accuse des responsables de trahir les engagements de PASTEF
MP Guy Marius Sagna has raised the issue of political funds again. He reiterated his proposed legislation on the matter and accused certain members of PASTEF of wanting to abandon fundamental party commitments. His statement is below.
“It was in September 2025 that I submitted to the president of the PASTEF parliamentary group and to the president of PASTEF a “proposed law establishing a commission to audit political fund allocations.” On the same day he received my proposal, President Sonko asked me to let him discuss it with “the appropriate authorities,” adding that he preferred it to be handled by the government and not the National Assembly.”
From September 2025 to May 2026, a period of eight (8) months, President Sonko sought to bring the President of the Republic back onto the right path of PASTEF's electoral commitments, the path of prudent and ethical management of every cent of the public funds of the African people of Senegal. During this same period, Sonko worked to improve this proposal.
You know the rest. The President of the Republic of Senegal wants to maintain continuity on the issue of political funds.
The aim of this proposal is to establish a Political Fund Appropriations Verification Commission (CVCFP), tasked with ensuring that appropriations are used in accordance with their intended purpose as defined by the budget law. The commission is vested with an auditing function.
President Sonko amended my proposal by going further in a fruitful way than I did regarding the regulation of political funds.
Two conclusions:
1- PASTEF has not forgotten any of its commitments. Some members of PASTEF want to turn their backs on fundamental PASTEF commitments.
2- What proof of patience from President Ousmane Sonko who, from September 2025 to May 2026, hoped and worked to bring forward with the President of the Republic a bill for the regulation of political funds!
Some have chosen to betray the patriots and the voters. Others have decided to remain true to their commitments and place the sovereign people and their aspirations at the heart of political practice. Let each choose their side: the neocolonial camp, which represents continuity, or the sovereignist African camp of Senegal, which represents popular change.
