The President's economic tour concluded with a significant stop in Oussouye, where the achievements of the Promovilles program were officially presented. These developments have profoundly transformed the face of this town with its strong traditional character. The technical aspects of the project involve the construction of 4.5 kilometers of roads along four strategic axes chosen in consultation with the municipality. This road network is complemented by a significant drainage system extending over 2.5 kilometers. This system includes reinforced concrete gutters, PVC pipes, submersible culverts, and a high-performance surface drainage network. To enhance the safety and comfort of residents, the street lighting has also been modernized with the installation of 250 solar-powered streetlights.
President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye expressed his great satisfaction with the quality of the completed infrastructure. He stated that rebalancing public investment between different localities and major urban centers remains a priority. He emphasized that this approach is the very essence of his policy of decentralizing state projects.
The Head of State particularly emphasized the situation in Casamance, which, according to him, has long suffered from infrastructural shortcomings that have hindered the development of its immense economic potential. He affirmed that it is now time to unleash all this energy through strategic investments. The President expressed his reassurance at the warm welcome from the local population, confirming that this positive momentum reflects a genuine desire to address local needs.
At the conclusion of his visit, Bassirou Diomaye Faye announced his intention to continue these efforts in other parts of the country while remaining attentive to the challenges that persist in Oussouye. He acknowledged the grievances expressed by the mayor and promised to remain responsive to citizens' concerns. This ambition aims to guarantee harmonious socio-economic development throughout the entire national territory.
