« Résistance » : El Malick Ndiaye redéfinit le combat politique au pouvoir
Senegal now has a written record of its recent political history. This weekend, El Malick Ndiaye, President of the National Assembly and National Secretary for Communication of PASTEF, presided over the book launch of "Resistance, Chronicle of the Patriotic Revolution of Senegal," authored by Ibrahima Diallo, a communications officer at the Presidency. More than a literary presentation, the event became a political manifesto, outlining the transition from opposition to government.
In his address, El Malick Ndiaye paid tribute to the memory of the singer Khar Mbaye Madiaga before reflecting on the years of struggle of PASTEF. He described the activists as "unbreakable," resilient in the face of repression, exclusion, and violence.
A solemn tribute was paid to the martyrs "who fell for freedom," to the wounded and maimed, to political prisoners and exiles, as well as to citizens who lost their jobs or social stability due to their commitment to sovereignty. For El Malick Ndiaye, Ibrahima Diallo's work constitutes an "act of truth" intended to preserve the memory of these sacrifices.
His speech focused on redefining the concept of "resistance". According to him, the struggle does not end with the accession to power, it changes its face.
“To resist today is to govern with integrity. It is to reject undue privileges and protect institutions instead of exploiting them,” he stated, emphasizing that power is a sacred duty, not a reward. This vision, he argued, demands a greater degree of transparency than that of his predecessors.
Heading towards the future
El Malick Ndiaye urged activists to move beyond their opposition stance and fully embrace their new responsibilities. He emphasized the importance of disciplined communication, in accordance with the directives of party leader Ousmane Sonko.
Two major objectives have been set. Massification: reaching one million new members. Preserving the history: producing films and creating a Museum of Patriotic Victims (MVP), intended to honor the memory of the struggle for future generations.
In conclusion, Ndiaye presented the book as a "compass" for all those who believe in a sovereign Senegal. For him, the exercise of power is a new test of sacrifice, where resistance is now expressed through integrity and responsibility.

Le décès de Khar Mbaye Madiaga, icône de la musique sénégalaise et patrimoine vivant de notre culture, en est une illustration frappante. De par son parcours, son engagement et sa portée symbolique, le président Diomaye aurait dû être parmi les premiers à lui rendre hommage. Ni lui, ni son Premier ministre ne l’ont fait. C’est regrettable.
Ce silence n’est malheureusement pas un cas isolé. La même attitude a été observée lors du décès de Dial Mbaye et d’autres personnalités qui ont pourtant marqué l’histoire culturelle, intellectuelle et sociale du Sénégal.
À ce stade, force est de reconnaître que l’ancien président Macky Sall se montre bien plus constant et humain dans ces moments. Il rend régulièrement hommage, félicite, encourage et reconnaît les mérites des Sénégalais, même en dehors de tout calcul politique.
À titre d’exemple, il y a à peine deux semaines, Macky Sall, et lui seul, a publiquement félicité le Pr Souleymane Bachir Diagne, lauréat du Prix Paris-Liège 2025, saluant une œuvre qui honore la pensée africaine et rappelle l’importance d’un humanisme ouvert et du dialogue entre les cultures. Là encore, aucune réaction officielle du président en exercice ni de son Premier ministre.
Un président n’est pas seulement un gestionnaire ou un chef d’institutions : il est aussi le garant de la mémoire collective, le symbole de la reconnaissance nationale. Rendre hommage ou féliciter une œuvre n’est pas de la politique politicienne ; c’est affirmer nos valeurs, notre humanité et notre identité.
À l’ère du numérique, cela ne demande pourtant pas grand-chose : un simple message sur Twitter/X, Facebook ou d’autres plateformes officielles. Le service de communication de la Présidence a un rôle essentiel à jouer.
C’est aussi cela, le Sénégal : reconnaître celles et ceux qui ont contribué à son rayonnement, qu’ils soient artistes, intellectuels ou citoyens engagés.
Ce manque de sensibilité est décevant. Gouverner, c’est aussi savoir dire merci, saluer une œuvre, honorer une mémoire. Sur ce terrain, l’actuel pouvoir doit clairement faire mieux.
