Sadikh Top (Pastef) : « L'étudiant Abdoulaye Ba est une victime comptable de notre régime »
"History has repeated itself." These words are from Ababacar Sadikh Top, a member of PASTEF, following the death of student Abdoulaye Ba last Monday at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD).
"And sometimes, when it happens again, in addition to making us aware of the responsibility we have for a life gone forever, it reminds us of the responsibility we have to do justice to the lives lost in the same circumstances, that is to say, police violence," he declared on Facebook on Friday, February 13, the Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) to the Senegalese Press Agency (APS).
The Pastef member thus warned against the consequences of impunity. He declared: "In such circumstances, when a culture of not serving justice takes hold, it opens the door to even more serious injustices. And the Senegalese people will not forgive us for that."
What about political responsibility? Sadikh Top stated: “First, because we suffered it and denounced it. Second, and most importantly, because we embody the hope that puts an end to all the follies of those in power. This people fought alongside us to ensure these practices ceased once and for all.” He continued: “Abdoulaye Ba is a victim of our regime. We must quickly rectify this through investigation and punishment so that we never have to experience this again.”
