At the Council of Ministers meeting on Wednesday, March 4, the Head of State delivered a statement on the Policy for Improving the Status of Women. This was on the occasion of the celebration of International Women's Day, scheduled for March 8, 2026, under the theme "Rights, Justice, Action for all women and girls." He also commended the organization of the National Week.

"While praising the efforts made by the Government and all partners to improve the status of women, particularly those living in rural areas, the Head of State emphasizes the importance he attaches to the education of young girls and the preservation of gender equality and women's rights. To this end, he instructs the Government to intensify awareness-raising efforts and the fight against discrimination and violence against women and girls, and to further involve women's organizations in the implementation of public policies, through the deployment of projects and programs to strengthen women's economic empowerment," stated the Secretary of State to the Prime Minister, in charge of Relations with Institutions, Government Spokesperson Marie Rose Khady Fatou Faye, in the press release from the Council of Ministers.

She also maintains that "the President of the Republic has asked the Minister of Family, Social Action and Solidarity to accelerate the reforms necessary for the economic promotion and social protection of women and to organize, before the end of 2026, inclusive national consultations on the contribution of women to the realization of the National Transformation Agenda, Senegal 2050".
