Sénégal : La réaction de Nathalie Yamb après le limogeage de Sonko
It's a political bombshell in Senegal. Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko has been dismissed by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. This decision by the Senegalese leader brings to a close months of tension between the two most powerful men in Senegal. Activist Nathalie Yamb, known for her support of Sonko, has posted several messages on her social media account.
"I hope now we will know all the ins and outs."
In the first post, she said she was not surprised by Sonko's dismissal. "I am unfortunately not surprised by this outcome. I now hope that we will know all the ins and outs," she wrote.
The second message is simply a repost of one of her videos about the Diomaye-Sonko duo. In this recording, she emphasized the principle of unity of power in a presidential system. This was a way of warning about the imminent failure of the dual system at the top of the Senegalese state.
"The exercise of power brings out people's true character."
“The speeches were made and the commitments were made by Ousmane Sonko. But today it is Diomaye Faye who was elected. Sonko is a book that has left its mark. Bassirou is a blank page that will begin to be filled. The exercise of power brings out people’s true character and even with the best intentions, it tests the strongest friendships,” warned the Swiss-Cameroonian.
She added the following: "I don't know what motivated Sonko's choice of Bassirou as a substitute candidate, but what I do know is that presidential power, in a presidential system, is an armchair, not a sofa, it's one seat, not two, not three, not six."
