Talla Sylla salue la dignité de Mohamed Bazoum et appelle à la défense de la démocratie
The former mayor of Thiès, Talla Sylla, paid tribute to the former Nigerien president Mohamed Bazoum, highlighting his dignity and his commitment to democratic values, beyond any partisan solidarity.
In a statement, the former advisor to President Macky Sall affirms that his support for Mohamed Bazoum is based on fundamental principles. "It is not simply a matter of sympathizing with an injustice or a kidnapping, but of defending values and fighting against counter-values," he emphasizes.
Talla Sylla recalls knowing Mohamed Bazoum since 1984, during the school and student protests in Senegal and Niger. A relationship forged in activism and which, according to him, remained intact when Bazoum was a minister, candidate, and then president.
For the former mayor of Thiès, Mohamed Bazoum embodies the primacy of the rule of law in the face of armed power grabs. "Supporting him means affirming the supremacy of democracy over force, of the ballot box over weapons," he insists, believing that the former Nigerien head of state remains a powerful symbol against the normalization of coups d'état in Africa.
Talla Sylla finally calls for constant mobilization in favor of constitutional order and expresses hope that Mohamed Bazoum will regain his freedom.
