Affaire des terrains des "Lions" : Les explications et l’engagement de Sonko
The issue of the land allocated to the Senegalese national football team, the Lions, by President Macky Sall but still not delivered, has resurfaced. This debate was revived following the team's recent World Cup victory and Elhadj Ousseynou Diouf's comments on the matter. On Friday, Ousmane Sonko addressed the issue, specifically regarding the awards given to the Lions.
“There was what happened when we won the previous cup. We are working on it, because it’s not that we are specifically targeting the Lions or anyone else, but we inherited a country with many land-related problems, some of which can even destabilize a country. That’s why we decided to suspend everything and study the situation. But we will do everything the State has committed to,” assured Ousmane Sonko.
Regarding this year's awards, Ousmane Sonko stated that the goal was to do more. However, he clarified a few points: "We haven't done more than what has been done before. That's a perception. On land issues, my intention and that of the president was to do more than that. But Dakar no longer has any land available," he indicated.
