Thierno Alassane Sall's supporters are outraged: "Téra-meeting or Terramycine: Lightness in the face of gravity"

Les partisans de Thierno Alassane Sall indignés : "Téra-meeting ou Terramycine : La légèreté face à la gravité"

“Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko’s one-man show.” That’s how supporters of Thierno Alassane Sall, president of the La République des Valeurs/Réewum Ngor party, based in France, described the Téra-meeting of the Pastef leader.

“Like many Senegalese sincerely attached to the Republic, we had hoped that this meeting with his supporters would mark a turning point, a moment of responsibility, where the head of government would take full measure of his function; even if he is, officially, on leave (abandonment of post). Perhaps this hope, undoubtedly naive, was only the reflection of a deep attachment to our country, Senegal, and to what it still represents for many of us,” noted Aly Bathily, coordinator of the Republic of Values/Réewum Ngor - France.

In the eyes of those close to TAS, the expectations were clear: the Senegalese people hoped for strong and immediate measures to alleviate a daily life that had become unbearable.

There is no shortage of challenges: soaring energy and food prices, rising rents, the deterioration of public schools, expensive access to healthcare, endemic youth unemployment, and the need for a truly independent justice system.

These are all major projects on which a head of government could, should, have provided concrete answers.

But, once again, the meeting turned into a stylistic exercise.

Aly Bathily and his colleagues were outraged: the tone adopted was one of denunciation, victimhood, and threats, rather than one of constructive dialogue and accountability. While the eloquence was certainly present, it seemed to serve a spectacle rather than a genuine project. What is even more troubling is the casual way in which some of our fellow citizens have greeted these remarks.

Faced with the gravity of the situation, Thierno Alassane Sall's supporters are insisting that complacency, even blindness, is becoming alarming. It seems that partisan fervor is stifling clear thinking, as if the exercise of power could be reduced to a personal platform rather than a national mission.

Aly Bathily believes that Senegal deserves better than frivolity. It deserves leaders who are up to the challenges facing its citizens, and a public opinion capable of distinguishing political rhetoric from mere oratory.

Tant que votre programme c'est Sonko personne ne prendra au sérieux.Dites aux Sénégalais ce que vous ferez si vous êtes élus, comment vous allez améliorer leur condition une fois au pouvoir.
