Thiès : Le préfet sévit contre les rodéos urbains
In response to a surge in risky behavior on public roads, the prefect of the Thiès department, Mame Less Cabou, has taken drastic measures. Through an administrative decree published today, the prefectural authority formally prohibits speed races and street races involving Jakarta motorcycles and other types of motorcyclists.
This decision follows numerous complaints regarding road safety and the nuisances caused by these dangerous practices on the city's main roads. The prefectural statement is unequivocal: "Anyone who violates the provisions of this decree will be punished in accordance with the penalties stipulated by the Penal Code."
To ensure the immediate implementation of this measure, the prefect has mobilized the defense and security forces. The Central Commissioner and the Commander of the Thiès Gendarmerie Company are officially tasked with overseeing the rigorous enforcement of this decree throughout the entire department.
This measure, which will be widely publicized and displayed in public places, aims to restore order and safety for pedestrians as well as motorists, in a context where accidents involving two-wheelers remain a major concern for local authorities.
