Thiès : Visite surprise du ministre Bamba Cissé au marché central
The Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Mouhamadou Bamba Cissé, made a surprise visit to the central market in Thiès. He personally observed the progress of the public road reorganization project. This visit took place while he was en route to the religious communities of Tivaouane, Ndiassane, and Keur Mame El Hadj Ndiéguene (Thiès), as part of a courtesy visit to religious families.
On the Allées Mao Doucouré and at the Sham roundabout, he listened to the grievances of those evicted. Spokesperson for the victims, Mbaye Babacar Diouf, praised "the approach of the Minister of the Interior, who, admittedly, paid us a surprise visit, but still took the time to listen to us and, above all, to hear our grievances."
He continued: "Mr. Bamba Cissé believes that this work is done for us. It is not with a light heart that we take to the public road."
The minister pleaded for the fish sellers at the Sham market who are forced to pay, individually, the sum of 500,000 FCFA to have a stall, which is not within everyone's reach.
Finally, Mbaye Babacar Diouf explains that within the framework of the public-private partnership a new fish market site has been set up at the Sham roundabout, but, he notes, "it costs 500,000 FCFA to benefit from it, which is very expensive for these sellers who can't even make ends meet," he says.
At the central market in Thiès, street vendors and fish and vegetable sellers are requesting support measures.
