Tivaouane : une enveloppe de 25 millions FCFA allouée au mouvement sportif local
25 million FCFA. This is the total amount given to the sports clubs of the municipality by the Tivaouane municipal council.
Subsidies were allocated to Asc Les Damels, playing in National 1 (3.5 million FCFA), the Kouli team (1 million FCFA), with the expressed hope of seeing it promoted to National 1 soon, and Le Kajoor FC (1 million FCFA), which is playing in the regional division.
A grant of 1.5 million FCFA was allocated to the local basketball team, which has brought great satisfaction this year with its promotion to the elite, in exchange for support of 1 million FCFA for the handball team.
This provided an opportunity for the departmental sports inspector, José Edgar Ballakoune, to reiterate that "sport requires significant financial resources." He commended the efforts made and advocated for increased support if the town hall's resources allow.
He paid a glowing tribute to the leaders of the Tivaouane Basket Club for their "excellent track record" and encouraged the diversification of sports. The president of the Tivaouane sports district, Pape Fall, welcomed the growing enthusiasm of young people for sports.
The athletes acknowledged that the Moustapha Niang stadium contributed to nearly 70% of their performance, thanks to the opportunity to play on regulation pitches. Pape Fall pointed out that the club has to play nearly 20 matches, ten of them in Thiès, due to a lack of local infrastructure.
