Tournée économique : Les consignes du Pr. Diomaye pour le chantier de l’aéroport de Ziguinchor
President Bassirou Diomaye Faye arrived in Ziguinchor on Saturday as part of his economic tour. He visited the city's airport construction site. The visit allowed him to observe, "with satisfaction," the resumption of work and the pace of its execution.
"We were keen, from the year 2025, with the amending finance law, to inject 7 billion and to provide the remaining amount of 6 billion for the initial finance law 2026. This amount allows us to meet the deadline for which the company has committed to the delivery of the site, namely the end of April 2026," he indicated at the end of his visit.
President Diomaye Faye emphasized the importance of this work and the need to complete it on time. He told the audience that the Ziguinchor region remains a crucial link in the implementation of the territorialization policy that he and his team have undertaken.
“Ziguinchor has enormous potential in terms of tourism, culture, and the economy. That is why we considered it a very high priority that the airport construction be completed and that service to Ziguinchor from other connecting hubs be provided directly via the airport,” he stressed.
He called on the companies involved in the project to continue giving their best and to deliver quality work on time. "Obviously, I am counting on the rigor of the Minister of Infrastructure and the vigilance of the Minister of Land and Air Transport to ensure that deadlines are met and that, thanks to this airport, Ziguinchor can breathe freely again in terms of accessibility," said Professor Diomaye.
